Each pad has two buffing sides cushioned by a block of soft foam. One side is for smoothing, and other for shining. Shining is created by a thin and high gloss coating of a proprietary chemical compound, impregnated by buffing.

I was looking for a pad style nail shine & buffer, like my manicurist uses. Couldn't find the exact one because I think it's a hidden secret where they purchase their stuff. But this is pretty close. I previously bought the nail buff shiners from Sally Beauty Supply works pretty good. I wasn't sure if first, I did the one side of the buffer to smooth out and then the other side to shine it and my first nail shined really nice, but he next few did not, so I went over again with the shining part of the pad and they're all shiney and perfect.
